The Water Knowledge Exchange Hub Inaugural Seminar
The newly established Knowledge Exchange Hub – the partnership between water@leeds and Global Partnership Tanzania, ran it first online seminar on the 14th July 2020 which brought together representatives from Tanzania’s water sector to explore and discuss the challenges of knowledge exchange and the action needed to build on for the future.
Speakers were Dr Victor Kongo (Executive Director of GWP Tanzania and co-partner of the Project), who reported on a survey conducted in Tanzania around the challenges and expectations around water knowledge exchange.
Dr Ramasamy Jayakumar (UNESCO -East African Regional Office) also spoke about the Knowledge Exchange Gap from a Development Partner perspective highlighting the prospects available for both researchers and policymakers in the East African Region. Dr Makarius Lalika (Sokoine University of Agriculture) explained some practical challenges that researchers and academics face in conducting and packaging research outcomes to policymakers and water practitioners. Engineer Pamella Temu (Ministry of Water Tanzania) provided perspectives from a policy-making angle, discussed the practical opportunities available in applying research knowledge to Policy and decision making.
