The conference is jointly organised by the Centre for Global Development at the University of Leeds and the Centre for Applied Human Rights at the University of York under the auspices of the WUN Transformative Justice Network.  It aims to bridge the worlds of scholarship, practice and policy-making and to provide a platform for knowledge exchange leading to improved access to justice for the poor and marginalised.

The conference will include two expert panels discussing legal empowerment and current trends in alternative strategies for increasing access to justice in post conflict societies, and gender-based violence and justice in post conflict settings, in addition to keynote speakers.

Keynote speakers include: Rashida Manjoo, United Nations Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women and Professor of Law, University of Cape Town and Vivek Maru, World Bank Justice Reform Group (TBC).

Call for Posters

In addition to the above, the conference will include a lunch-time poster session for WUN partners and other non-WUN participants, especially postgraduate research students. This will offer an opportunity to present and receive feedback on ongoing or complete research.  For information about how to submit a poster please visit the conference website.
