The Researchers in Development PhD Network (RiDNet) is a multi-disciplinary, cross faculty network for PhD and early career researchers working in international development at the University of Leeds. Many of RiDNet members undertake fieldwork overseas in different cultures and contexts. Fieldwork is an exciting part of many PhD journeys, but there is also a certain degree of 'unknown' when embarking on fieldwork research.
As part of our practical brownbag workshops, we have organised a workshop on: What if your plans are not working in the field? Dealing with the unexpected during research.
The idea is to help students who are about to embark on fieldwork to hear from researchers who have had experience of this and who can share reflections from what they learnt.  This workshop will take place on Friday 26th January 13:00-14:30 (GMT). We will have three speakers:
1. Dr Ruth Smith, University of Leeds
2. Dr Shivani Singhal, University of Leeds
3. Vivian Nsiah, University of Leeds
Each speaker will present (~15-20 mins) in turn. The presentations will then be followed by an opportunity for the audience to ask the speakers specific or more general questions. We will hold the event online so that those not in Leeds can attend. Please register via this form and we will send you a Teams link.
Please share information about this event with anyone you think might be interested! We also welcome any feedback and/or comments on the outline and structure of this event. Many thanks.
