Going into 2023, one of the things we are keen to strengthen in the Researchers in Development Network (RiDNet) is more of a collaborative and cross-faculty research network for early career researchers working on development-related issues at Leeds. We also want to get RiDNet members more involved in the wider work of the Centre for Global Development (CGD) - from engaging in events to inputting into future research directions and priorities. As such we are going to initiate a monthly informal get-together for both RiDNet members and Simon & Geoff (CGD Co-Directors). These will be held face-to-face in Social Sciences SR (10.07) on the last Monday of every month from 3-4pm.

The first get-together is scheduled for Monday 30th January 3-4pm in Social Sciences SR (10.07). This will be an introductory meeting where we can all get to know each other in person, Simon & Geoff will introduce themselves and give an overview of the CGD, and we can discuss opportunities for PGR engagement and input within the work of the CGD. There will be refreshments (cake and hot drinks) provided for this initial meeting. Going forwards we can set up an informal rota system so that RiDNet members can share cakes and/or treats to celebrate the wide diversity of RiDNet members. Following this initial get-together, the idea for future monthly events is to give RiDNet members the opportunity to present their work, discuss relevant research or methodological approaches, pitch new ideas for events and activities, and generally to foster more of a collaborative research environment between RiDNet and the CGD.
