The Workshop will bring together international experts on early childhood development (ECD) and provision of child care for, health, social, education and economic benefit in low income countries. Confirmed speakers include: Dr Mashreky Saidur from Centre for Injury Prevention and Research, Bangladesh and Dr Hilary Wallace from University of Western Australia. Through presentation and discussion, we will explore:
- existing evidence on ECD and child-care in low income countries
- ways to measure ECD and their appropriateness for resource-poor settings
- future collaborations within and beyond the University of Leeds to address research priorities in this area
- We will also be presenting our plans for an MRC funded study to develop sustainable child-care in the slums of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
