Annette Idler presents the seminar "Fieldwork in Hot Places: Personal and Methodological Challenges"

This talk will discuss the challenges that arise when conducting fieldwork in difficult settings, especially conflict- or violence affected regions. It will focus on practical aspects including security measures, and access strategies as well as personal aspects such as the vulnerability of the researcher, coping strategies and self-care. While mostly focusing on the fieldwork itself, the talk is also relevant for fieldwork preparation and for post-fieldwork situations. This talk is aimed at students and early career researchers – but all welcome!

The seminar will be held at the University of Leeds, Baines Wing 3.06
