MA Development studies and Gender
My reason for choosing Leeds University and School of Politics and International Studies (POLIS) in particular is due to its international reputation and recognition. The second reason is the relevance of the course. Having worked with Gender department in the Ministry of Community Development, Gender and Children in Tanzania, I wanted a programme that could integrate gender issues and development and found POLIS to be the best place in fulfilling my objective and ambition.
The University of Leeds differs from my previous university in that it is a large, internationally recognised university with high academic rankings and full of a cultural diversity that creates a fabulous and friendly learning environment. Moreover, the University of Leeds and POLIS in particular, has dedicated very supportive and highly qualified staff that, in turn, make the programme more rewarding.
The MA programme in Development Studies and Gender has given me distinctive skills and knowledge on how to integrate gender in the development process. Thus, I will use it for the betterment of my country and the world at large.
Also, I will use my MA in providing professional support in incorporating gender issues in the development process in my workplace and thus enhance gender equality and women empowerment for the sustainable development of Tanzania.
