The School of History and Centre for Global Development are pleased to host a talk by Dr. Sandeep Pandey on "Strengthening Grassroots Democracy in India".

Dr. Sandeep Pandey is a social activist, co-founder of Asha for Education, founder of Asha Parivar and leader of the National Alliance of People’s Movements.  He was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2002.  He has also worked on the Government of India’s Central Advisory Board for Education.  His work currently involves the promotion of grassroots democracy, Right to Information, rights to food and the Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in rural Uttar Pradesh, India.
