Sustainable Development and Social Enterprise: Solar Energy for All?

Film and discussion with Dr Richard Komp

Few people can match both the enthusiasm Dr. Richard Komp has brought to solar energy. For the past 30 years, Richard has been promoting solar PV installations in South America, Africa and now Asia where he taught hundreds of workshops and assisted local NGOs and social enterprises.
Richard is the Co-founder and Director of Skyheat Associates, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting public awareness and use of solar energy. He is also President of Maine Solar Energy Association and Sunwatt Corporation. Richard volunteers most of his time to assist those with no income or access to electricity to become self-sufficient.

Richard’s work has been the subject of a few film documentaries, including ‘Between the Earth and the Sun’ and ‘Burning in the Sun’ that documented his work with rural entrepreneurs in Nicaragua and Mali.
If you are interested in social entrepreneurship, sustainable development and/or renewables - or just curious to find out more about any of these topics – just come along.
